The Northern Ireland Screen Games Development Academy returns for the second year with applications open for all 16-19 year olds interested in a career Games Development.
The Games Development Academy will focus on the different career roles available in the Gaming Industry – Programmer, Concept Artist, UI Developer, Producer and Sound designer. The Academy will be split into two phases Industry Introduction and Production.
Industry Introduction Phase – This phase of the course is available as a resource pack for participants on the course to revise over before starting the next phase. During this first phase you will be introduced to the job roles in the gaming industry and learn more about the skills and qualities needed for each role. Once you have completed this phase you will progress into the Production phase. This resource pack is available to you when you apply, you will be sent a series of videos to watch and then complete a sort online quiz.
Production Phase – In the Production Phase you will have the opportunity to work on different aspects of Game development: Concept art, idea generation, programming, sound design and business development under the guidance of industry mentors. Applicants interested in taking part must complete the Industry Introduction Phase of the course before continuing onto the Production Phase.
Equipment and software can be lent out to participants on the course if needed.
The first cohort of students have already started with the Industry Introduction phase however we are continuing to recruit for another group of Academy participants to take part before moving onto the Production Phase which will commence on the 7th November for all Academy students.
