The Northern Ireland Screen Games Development Academy returns for the second year with applications open for all 16-19 year olds interested in a career Games Development.
The Games Development Academy will focus on the different career roles available in the Gaming Industry – Programmer, Concept Artist, UI Developer, Producer and Sound designer. The Academy will be split into two phases Industry Introduction and Production.
Industry Introduction Phase – This phase of the course will be a blend of zoom meetings and recorded masterclasses. During this first phase you will be introduced to the job roles in the gaming industry and learn more about the skills and qualities needed for each role. Once you have completed this phase you will progress into the Production phase.
Production Phase – In the Production Phase you will have the opportunity to take on a role and work as part of a team to develop and programme your own game, under the guidance of an industry mentor. Applicants interested in taking part must complete the Industry Introduction Phase of the course before continuing onto the Production Phase.
Equipment and software can be lent out to participants on the course if needed.
The first cohort of students have already started with the Industry Introduction phase however we are continuing to recruit for another group of Academy participants to take part before moving onto the Production Phase which will commence in November for all Academy students.
Closing date for applications is Thursday 8th October at 5pm
