Visual Effects (VFX) is the art of combining computer-generated (CG) sequences with live-action footage to create scenes that can’t be filmed in real life. Using a combination of technical and artistic skills alien landscapes, enormous crowd scenes or fire-breathing dragons can be brought to our screens.
Structure:
8th-10th August
On this academy you will have the opportunity to gain training in Blender; a 3D computer graphics software used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D-printed models and motion graphics.
You will be working on footage that was shot by industry professionals on the short sci-fi film we produced last year; Human Error. This film was produced as part of the Production Design and Set construction academy. Watch it here: https://vimeo.com/680471372
11th-12th August
Niall Carlin director of Double Jump studios will take you through an introduction to VFX techniques. Niall will also show practical examples of shooting for VFX and what you need to be aware of in this stage of production . You will have access to adobe after effects tutorials that Niall produced specifically for the VFX Academy.
This is a great opportunity to build up some of your own VFX sequences to include in your showreel.
