Structure of the VFX in Film Academy:
What is VFX in Film? Visual Effects (VFX) is the art of combining computer-generated (CG) sequences with live-action footage to create scenes that can’t be filmed in real life. Using a combination of technical and artistic skills alien landscapes, enormous crowd scenes or fire-breathing dragons can be brought to our screens.
This academy will be led by the talented VFX Compositor, Rachel Hynds. It will include a weekly three hour online session for the first six weeks over Zoom. On location training on the set of Human Error over half term, 19th – 21st February 2021. After the shoot, sessions will resume over Zoom weekly for the remainder of the academy. The academy will conclude with a VFX Careers Q&A session with a number of professionals working across VFX in the industry.
You will gain experience and understanding on software such as Nuke, Blender, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. You will cover topics such as greenscreen compositing, CG Modelling and shooting for VFX.
Due to the nature of this academy some of the sessions will be in person in order to prepare for the shoot. Specific dates for set visits are to be decided and will depend on Covid restrictions.
